The Goals of the Pathway To Science Program

- To prepare up to 24 science teachers who are highly qualified to teach chemistry, physics, biology, or general science over a five year period.
- To create a steady stream of future science education majors, which will in turn increase the number of science teachers.
- To enhance student achievement by providing certified science teachers in those classrooms that currently have no certified teachers.
- To create a replicable model that will provide ongoing mentoring and 911±¬ÁÏÍø development for novice science teachers to increase the probability that they will be retained and become career teachers.

Pathway to Science Phase II seeks to both prepare additional teachers who are highly
qualified to teach as well as to provide ongoing research and 911±¬ÁÏÍø development
to advance the excellence of science teachers and the students they serve in the Southeast
